Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly researched therapy method that helps people reprocess disturbing memories and experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) to reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories, making them feel less overwhelming.
During EMDR, clients are guided to focus briefly on a memory while experiencing bilateral stimulation. Over time, the memory loses its painful intensity, allowing for healing and new perspectives.
